It's designed by me with the hopes that it meets the functions of both a purse and a "good to go" diaper bag. It's sturdy enough to stand on it's own even when empty and will hold a ton of stuff. The 2 end pockets on the outside are roomy enough for a baby bottle or to securely hold a cell phone; putting both items within easy, 1-handed reach. The front of the bag has an appliqued on pocket (my first attempt at satin stich) that is lined in fleece, so that I can toss my sunglasses in there. The back side of the bag has the full length plaid pocket designed to hold a changing pad (my next project). Inside the bag, there are bottle pockets on both ends, along with a swivel hook on both ends - 1 for keys, 1 for a pacifier. The inside back has too large pockets for diapers, wipes, oinments etc. The inside front has pockets for Mommy's needs - 2 pen holders, secure zipper pocket, place for checkbook, etc. I originally planned to make a matching waterproof bag (like so many of the designer bags include), but have decided who wants to wash out a vinyl bag every time you have to use it. I will keep a roll of 1 gallon ziplock bags in there instead - seems much more practical. I have also included a D-ring tucked just inside the bag at the top of both ends - this will allow me to put hooks on the stroller handles and strap the bag to the stroller or even create a wider, long shoulder strap that would run the length of the bag if it seems necessary when we start trying to tote it around. The bag also closes with 2 magnetic clasps - these are easy single-hand fasteners that hold pretty securely. I wanted to put metal feet on the bottom, but haven't been able to find a local source for them and was too impatient to wait for shipping on an internet order (not to mention paying shipping of $10 on a $3 dollar item!). It's not perfect...but it was a fun project.
